Snake Starter Setup

These snake starter kits are designed as a temporary enclosure for small to medium species of snake, generally for up to 6 months or so depending on species – small species may be able to live in these longer than larger species. These are suitable as a starter kit for popular snakes like corn snakes, king snakes, milk snakes, house snakes, western hognose snakes, just to name a few. They may suitable for very young hatchling royal pythons, carpet pythons and boa constrictors but these will be outgrown quite quickly and we recommend starting with a larger setup for these species – you can give us a call on 02920 190291, facebook message or email and we’re happy to give you free advice on the best starter setup if uncertain.

In many situations a well started snake can go into a larger setup so please also consider our vivarium setups as they offer much more space for the snake, easier to manage heating and lighting, as well as offering you better value for money as you won’t have to upgrade in 6 months.

Plastic Snake Starter Setup – £90

The Exo Terra Faunarium is a secure plastic enclosure with a tight fitting ventilated lid, and an access panel which opens on the top for easy feeding. It comes with a heat mat and thermostat for safe heating. You should be very wary about purchasing a heat mat without a thermostat with any reptile, but in the case of plastic enclosures, overheating can cause the plastic to melt – that’s how hot it gets! If you see anything advertising itself as a setup without a thermostat for your heat mat, you will need to purchase a thermostat additionally. We always sell heat mats with thermostat with a great discount, allowing you to be fully safe. It also comes with a thermometer to read the temperature, a small water dish, small hide and a bag of substrate.

Wooden Terrainium Starter Setup – £100

The wooden terrainium starter setup is a small wooden enclosure with a lift up lid. As with the plastic starter kit this is still only suitable for for hatchling snakes It is more attractive to look at and additionally holds heat better so may be more suitable in a colder room. It comes with the same equipment as above, but the terrainium sizes are:

Large Wooden Terrainium Starter Setup – £140

We also do a large wooden terrainium starter setup which will last longer than the small. The rest of the setup remains the same but the terrainium is larger.
