Reptile Cymru offers a boarding service for those on holiday. This involves your reptile staying with us on our premises for the duration of your holiday.
Please book as early as possible especially in the summer months as we have limited space and can get extremely busy during the school holidays. If for any reason you are no longer going to be boarding please give us the courtesy of a quick phone call to cancel or change your dates.
Reptiles boarding with us have:
- Their own vivarium (will not share with any others unless they usually live together). This will be thoroughly cleaned before their arrival and will have fresh substrate, only used for your reptile.
- Full necessary heating & lighting requirements.
- Diet based on the information you provide, supplemented with the appropriate vitamins.
- Fresh water daily.
- Daily attention from our staff!
If you wish to bring the tank in which your reptile usually resides, this can also be accommodated, and ensures the reptile stays in the same environment as usual, experiencing no stress.
Prices
Boarding is paid for on collection at the end of your holiday. Prices are per vivarium, not per animal. It is up to you what size vivarium you use, but we reserve the right to refuse to board anything which we consider to be unsuitable for the reptile’s size, so please let us know the size of your reptile and the tank you would like to book so we can ensure it is suitable.

You must be aware when boarding with us that we cannot be responsible for
- Accidents that may occur in our care
- Death of an animal in our care
- Loss due to escape or theft of an animal in our care
You will be asked to sign to agree to these terms and conditions before you leave your animal with us.
Providing Information:
Before you leave your animal with us you will be asked to provide information such as your name and address, and contact telephone number. Ideally we would appreciate somewhere we can contact you in case of emergency whilst away in addition to your home number. Any information about diet would also be useful.
You are free to call us on 02920 190291 at any time during your holiday to check on your pet – do not worry that you will be imposing, we will be happy to talk to you and ease any worries about your pet settling in!
Bringing your animal to us:
Bring your reptile in a secure container with air holes. We sell carry cages and faunariums which can be used for travel transport. You can also use any appropriate sized plastic tub with air holes, or a cardboard box or shoebox. You can leave this with us and take the animal away in it when you collect.
Collection:
Our collection hours are the same as our regular opening hours. If it is pre-arranged we can open at a later date than usual for you to collect out of hours. Payment is made on collection.
If anything happens:
It’s always best to be prepared! You should know that if something happens to your reptile outside of our control, we will attempt to contact you immediately on the numbers you have provided with us. If you are unavailable for contact, we will follow the recommendation of our qualified reptile veterinarian on the course of medical treatment required. Any vet bills that incur due to situations outside of our control will be presented to you on return. Your pet’s welfare will always be of the utmost importance to us.
Exceptions:
We regret that we are unable to take certain species of animal due to space, time or for animal welfare reasons. Please speak to us if you have a chameleon species, monitor lizard, iguana, or snake over 6 foot in size that needs to be boarded. Delicate species that are prone to stress would be better looked after in their own environment by a house sitter or relative.
We are only licensed for reptiles, amphibians & tortoises. We regret we cannot help with other species.
