We opened our doors in March 2007 and hope to be here for a long time yet. We are a team who work hard to promote education and animal welfare in the community.
We believe in contributing to the community and working towards education and conservation, ensuring that reptiles will be available both in the wild, and in captivity, for the future generations. We always sell captive bred animals where possible and the majority of our stock is bred by our staff guaranteeing healthy animals with known parentage and strong bloodlines.
Ben & Christy Bruckner:
The owners of Reptile Cymru, Ben & Christy produce hundreds of captive bred hatchlings every year, meaning you can purchase animals that have been with us from day one. Christy specialises in corn snakes, and has been breeding for over 12 years. Her collection of over 50 adults contains some of the higher end morphs available in the UK and she previously traded under the breeding name CWCorns. She is also an administrator on www.reptileforums.co.uk, the largest reptile forum in the UK with over 50,000 members, and if you want to talk to others in the community, why not pay the forums a visit.
Ben specialises in Boa Constrictors. He has a wide ranging collection including beautiful morphs such as albino, sunglow, anerythistic, ghost, salmon, pastel and localities boas such as the Hogg Island.
Bearded dragons are also a passion and the majority of the dragons sold by Reptile Cymru are bred right here, with the adult collection consisting of a large number of normals, citrus, hypo leucistic, blood red, hypo translucent, leatherbacks and silkbacks. Ben & Christy also breed finches and parakeets, african pygmy hedgehogs, leopard gecko morphs, royal python morphs, yemen chameleons, panther chameleons and we hope to breed our stunning display pair of sailfin dragons in the near future.
Patricia Whatley:
Pat is our resident delivery driver, and our DIY Expert. If you need any help or information about building your own vivaria, give Pat a shout!
Pat has experience with a wide range of reptiles, exotics and mammals.
Phil Miller:
Phil is an experienced reptile keeper. He keeps & breeds a wide variety of reptiles and can help you out with any questions you may have or just have a chat about your animals.
Work Experience / Job Placements / Interships
We frequently have people assisting in the shop who are on work experience with schools, colleges or universities or job placements with recruitment agencies or the job centre. We believe that young people can get valuable experience and an insight into keeping and breeding reptiles, as well as working in an animal related and retail environment. We usually only take on placements through an organisation, if you are interested in a voluntary placement for experience and a reference, talk to your educational institute. If you are currently out of work and would like more experience you can talk to the job centre about a 2 to 12 week placement.
